Story Behind the Photograph

Story Behind the Photograph

Some photographs become memories the moment they're made.

This was my final evening in Stockholm. The next morning, I would leave for Gdańsk, but before the journey continued, I found myself standing above the city at Monteliusvägen, watching the last sunset of the trip.

There was no plan to make a photograph. After spending the day wandering through Stockholm, I simply wanted to see the city one last time from above. As the sun began to set, the skyline slowly shifted from warm amber tones into soft shades of blue, while the water remained calm beneath it. It was one of those quiet moments that asks nothing of you except to be present.

I reached for my Minolta X-700, first introduced in 1981, loaded with Kodak ColorPlus 200 and fitted with a 28mm MC Rokkor f/2.8 lens. Every setting—from aperture to shutter speed—was adjusted manually. I made just one exposure.

Looking back, what stays with me isn't only the view, but the feeling it carried. Standing above the city brought a sense of perspective and calm, as if everything below had slowed down for a few minutes. Every time I look at this photograph, I'm reminded that some places don't ask to be photographed—they simply ask you to stay a little longer.

Why Hahnemühle William Turner 310 gsm

Why Hahnemühle William Turner 310 gsm

Hahnemühle William Turner 310 gsm is a mould-made, museum-quality fine art paper chosen for its quiet depth and tactile surface. Its soft matte finish and subtle watercolor texture give photographic tones a natural richness, allowing shadow, atmosphere and grain to feel present without becoming overly glossy or decorative. The result is a print with weight, permanence and a distinctly archival character.
